impossible to put in stand by mode

    Hi everybody,
    I habve Kubuntu 14.04 on a 64 bits computer.
It is impossible to put the computer in stand by mode. When I do it, the computer turns off very shortly but than asks for my password (in order to show my desktop).
I would be happy to be helped! :-)

try system settings>power management>advanced settings and uncheck "lock screen on resume" then click apply.

"stand by mode" is ambiguous; do you mean "sleep mode", also known as "suspend to RAM", or "hibernate", aka "suspend to disk"?
I suspect you mean sleep mode, and your problem is that it "wakes" immediately. I would check your firmware settings, there may be "wake on" settings that can be turned off.

Thanks vinnywright & jlittle for your answers,

As the language of my computer is not english, I had to translate it and I choosed "stand by". I mean "hibernate" (And it hibernates 1000 times faster than Windows. It may therefore be a sleep mode...). Anyway, nothing else is possible except "start again" and "turn-off".
Meanwhile I found how to hibernate, I have to choose turning-off, then the computer counts by decrementing and if I pressure "enter", the choice "hibernate" appears and I can choose it. This is not regular.

I tried what vinnywright wrote me & it works fine. Thanks again!
