    playing encrypted dvds

    Hi

Is anyone else having trouble playing encrypted dvds since upgrading to 14.04?

I have tried on 2 machines - one an in-situ upgrade from 13.10, and one a fresh install. I have also tried playing them in Dragon Player and KMplayer, and neither work. The upgraded machine would play them fine with 13.10.

I have libdvdread4 and libdvdnav4 installed, and has installed libdvdcss using the /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh script.

    Thanks!

    Did you install "kubuntu-restricted-extras"?

      Hi GreyGeek,

Yes, I have kubuntu-restricted-extras installed. I just tried with VLC - I see the DVD menu and hear it's soundtrack, but I can't play any episodes. VLC at least gives an error message - "DVDRead could not the disc /dev/dvd1". I do have libdvdread4 installed.

Try changing the path to the dvd, for me it's /dev/sr0

          Gavin,

Doh! You are right - my dvd drive isn't /dev/dvd1. At least VLC works now....
