    Okular always crashes

    Hi all,

    Since moving up to Trusty (14.04 Desktop 64b), I've not been able to use Okular even once. It crashes immediately when clicking on a pdf to load (via nemo). I can open Okular manually, but it then crashes when I attempt to load a pdf via file -> open.

    Here's a terminal session. This is a straight open and close of Okular with no problem (but without loading a document):
    Code:
    $ okular
    Bus::open: Can not get ibus-daemon's address.
    IBusInputContext::createInputContext: no connection to ibus-daemon
    $
    After loading Okular, I clicked on a file in "open recent":
    Code:
    $ okular
    Bus::open: Can not get ibus-daemon's address.
    IBusInputContext::createInputContext: no connection to ibus-daemon
    Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0".
    Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0".
    Can't get XRandR version
    okular: Fatal IO error: client killed
    $
    Here's one where I clicked on open then selected a pdf that had not been loaded before:
    Code:
    $ okular
    Bus::open: Can not get ibus-daemon's address.
    IBusInputContext::createInputContext: no connection to ibus-daemon
    Object::connect: No such signal org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceAdded(QDBusObjectPath)
    Object::connect: No such signal org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceRemoved(QDBusObjectPath)
    Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0".
    Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0".
    Can't get XRandR version
    okular: Fatal IO error: client killed

      Hi Snowhog,

      No, ibus wasn't installed. So I installed it:
      Code:
      $ sudo apt-get install ibus
      This has now removed the ibus related errors but the original problem remains:
      Code:
      $ okular

        Maybe connected - a KDE bug report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=333639

        Are you using the Xinerama ?
        Is the XRandR disabled ?

          Hi Rog132,

          Right on both counts!

          Hmmm... looks like the use of my 2 x Nvidia cards is a bigger problem than I thought. I run multiple GPUs and I've also got an issue with KDED (as mentioned here) - same as the bug reporter in the link you provided.

          So... what should I do now?
