Bootloader gone, after update to 14.04

    Hi,

    last weekend I installed 13.10 (dual-boot Windows 7 & Kubuntu 13.10), everything was fine.
Today the auto-updater announced 14.04, okay give it a try and see if the kubuntu auto-update is better than the updaters from other distributions (Suse, debian)

Maybe it's better but my bootloader is gone
I'm not able to start it anymore...

So, how i write a new bootloader without deleting my installation?

    cheers

    Try Boot-Repair:

I was having some issues that were boot related and tried to install boot repair. It didn't install, even though I followed the instructions to do so using a live cd/usb. It appeared to me that Boot Repair wasn't working in Kubuntu, just Ubuntu (14.10). So I found the BootUp-Manager in Muon and tried that. It solved my problem (My problem was that the drive was not unmounting at shutdown and Kubuntu insisted on running a disk check at every boot). Maybe that will work for you in case you can't get Boot Repair to work for you in Kubuntu.
