Network shares and Dolphin freezes when remote machine is down

Hi,

I've got some network shares on my laptop and desktop mounted through fstab,
i have set server timeout in kde settings to 15 seconds,
but when the file server is down and the shares are unavailable there is a lot of freezing in Dolphin,
well, i guess/assume it's samba as otherwise its pretty smooth.

Is there any other setting im missing? is there any way to fix this?

try adding "noauto" to the fstab line ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

this will keep the shares from being mounted automatically , you will half to mount them after the network is up and you are ready for them .
their is also a _netdev option that may sute you better

how do i use the shares when the fileshares are up? will the dolphin shortcuts work? reading up on _netdev

maby ,,,,,,but you will probably half to specificly mount them first,, with the noauto ,,,,,,,,,the _netdev will let a simpel

mount -a

mount them and may auto mount as soon as the net is up on them ,,,,maby

doesnt automount, but works ok so far with mount -a
i guess ill have to reboot when the server is down,

I dont know what the deal is, i could have sworn sudo mount -a works,
but doesn play today.
but,
its kinda easy. just have to run sudo mount //server/share
and that works, so its all good
