Need help getting DVD to mount

I know the dvd burner worked because it is what I used to install kubuntu.
I can manually eject and put a disk in and hear it spinning, but it doesn't mount.
I looked in /dev and there is no file called dvd or cd or sr0 or anything related.
/media/cdrom is empty.
dmesg | grep dvd returns nothing

Any suggestions?

Thanks! I tried this but it didn't work. When I looked there is no dev/sr0 so that is probably why it doesn't work.
