iocrest PCIe SATA 3 Controller Card Challenges

Hello,

I installed the subject card in the first PCIe x1 slot. I connected 1 of 2 SATA3 ports to a 1TB unformatted drive. The card boots and displays no drives connected. Does anyone have any experience with such a card? I really need just 1 of the 2 SATA ports without RAID.
