Did and update today that contained a new kernel and some updates for xorg including the core and the intel driver therein. I haven't touched the laptop since my last post becausei've been busy with other things. So i installed the update and rebooted and this is what i got from yukake when i opened it

    Code:
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output defaultxrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
    xrandr: cannot find output "VGA1"
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
warning: output VGA1 not found; ignoring
So i ran xrandr and got this. note this is completely different to the output i was getting

    Code:
xrandrxrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
    Screen 0: minimum 640 x 480, current 1280 x 800, maximum 1280 x 800

            h: width 1360 start 1432 end 1568 total 1776 skew 0 clock 47.7KHz
            v: height 768 start 771 end 781 total 798 clock 59.8Hz
this is the verbose version of the output

    Code:
xrandr --verbosexrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
