GF108 High Definition Audio Controller - no sound

In the section "Audio and Video Settings", I can choose between two sound cards:
Built-in audio
GF108 High Definition Audio Controller

The sound works only with the first one. What should I do to make GF108 working?

My computer is: Desktop, I5

Is the GF108 one built into a graphics card (or mobile/laptop/on-motherboard version of) for HDMI video playback?

You'd need to make sure the drivers are installed and your speakers plugged into it. I'm guessing.

I maybe wrong but I think the HiDef will only work on an HDMI connection ?

Most pc speakers work off audio leads not HDMI.

I may be totally wrong but don't get caught out by the fancy name. My 5.1 surround sounds great via the Built in audio.

Try installing the veromix plasma widget. From there, you can easily switch audio channels.

Assuming that you are using HDMI as I am doing....

Go into Phonon (Multimedia | Audio and Video settings, Device preference tab). Is the gf108 at the top of the list? If not, promote it there.

If still no sound, then is your monitor connected to a multi-input HDMI amplifier of some sort? Mine is, and I have 4 HDMI ports. In Audio Hardware Setup tab, make sure gf108 is the selected card on the top line. On the 'Profile' line right below, in the drop down list you may see several entries that appear identical "Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output" On my unit, I had to select the second one as my HDMI feed from the computer is connected to the second HDMI input on my amp.

At least, that is what I am theorizing....

Give those a try and see if you get some sound.
