'Bout what it says...
I have a brand spanking new computer with no parallell port, it has the two little PCI Express slots.
So I got the MosChip under the brand name SYBA which has, drivers, in the box on a cd.
However, as with other postings by other people in various Ubu fora the driver which has to be installed from tar don't seem to work.
The system originally saw the card in KinfoCenter/Device Ingormation/PCI, it is the fourth listed item, a PCI Express gigabit ethernet controller which is actually on board
Broadcom wireless
TI Host controller and the:
MosChip Semiconductor Technology Ltd. Device 9900.
So the thing is seen by the sytstem but it is not enabled.
i've tried all the "modprob" etc. suggestions around the net and even tried installing the PCI HotPlug, which is, assumedly already present.
Here is one attempt which didn't provide any joy:
$ sudo modprobe parport_pc io=0xe000
$ sudo modprobe lp
$ sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ExpressCard
Sooo...either:
a) it is a thing about the latest kernel, there is such a discussion from 2013
b) it is a command that I have forgotten or just didn't know to begin with.
So any help would be greatly appreciated...
The old Laserjet 6P is a workhorse, and I even purchased an extra light unit and cartridge for it..so..
again, any help would be greatly appreciated.
