Way to properly disable power.d pcie_aspm?

    Hello,

I've been using Kubuntu for about 10(?!) years now. My work laptop, an old acer extensa 5420, has fairly buggy ACPI, but just recently I ran into a new problem. Previously I have disabled suspend (radeon video driver won't come back to life entirely if using 3D) and wireless via "iwconfig wlan power off" because it was occasionally dropping connections. But lately something else has been shutting down my wireless card when power is disconnected, and the driver crashes pretty bad when it tries to reload.

I recently fit an Intel 7260 wireless card and that may have precipitated the problem, but I am pretty sure it worked fine for a while.

Anyway, I was able to stop the problem by disabling the pci_aspm script by "chmod -x /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/pcie_aspm". But this seems to be a hackish solution. Any idea on how to properly disable trying to put the pcie devices to sleep?

    Thanks for any ideas!

      Try this kernel parameter: pcie_aspm=off
