After riping 1 CD, Kubuntu does not mount the CD Drive

Hi everyone and thanks for the help.

What happens is that after ripping the 1st cd with K3b , When I insert a 2nd CD to rip Kubuntu does not mount it, it always shows as if no CD was on the tray. If I restart Kubuntu is everything fine again (for 1 CD only)...

Is there a way with the console to give/force a mount procedure??

I deleted Windows 8.1 and want to learn Kubuntu upsidedown, so any help is wellcome

By my knowledge the audio CD's are not mounted - http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...nually-859558/

At here the k3b ripping seems to work without problems - to get more information start the k3b from the konsole with the command:
    Code:
    k3b --nofork
The '--nofork' should keep the konsole run at the foreground and show the errors (if any ?).

Hi Rog132 thanks for your help,

Here k3b is also working fine, but the "system" does not recognize the cd after I open the tray and insert a 2nd one. Also trying the menu "device/Load" and nothing, it just opens the tray.

Looking with Dolphin and there is no cd symbol.

But the funny part is tha after shuting down and restarting kubuntu everything works just fine (wit the 1st CD).

So if I know the set of instructions Kubuntu uses on startup to recognize the CD tray, maybe I can use that on the console without having to restart?...

      Thanks

Have you tried to refresh k3b when inserted another CD-R/DVD-R?

I cannot remember off the top of my head, but there shoud be either a button or a menu item to refresh the drive in order for k3b to recognise the new disk. Or failing that try to refresh the removable media notification on your task bar.

              OK,
The problems seams not to be aplication dependent, ie: it does not mater wich cd ripping program i use, the result is allways the same.

I did try the " Load" ( its like a refresh drive...) command on k3b but no responce. On the file manager is the same, no device apears as cd-rom.

Only shuting down and restart will make the CD drive accept a new CD... Hence there must be a solution at the command-line prompt to push the Linux base or the KDE to activate the drive?!

              Thanks again for the help

                Maybe ?

                cli

Maybe a command line application will succes - https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showth...pping-from-CLI

                The ripit:
                :~$ apt-cache show ripit

ripit runs in text mode (no fancy GUI here) and does everything required to

                .
ripit does the following with an Audio CD:
                - Get the audio CD Album/Artist/Tracks information from CDDB
                - Get the audio CD Album/Artist/Tracks information from Musicbrainz
                - Rip the audio CD Tracks (using cdparanoia or other cdrippers)
                - Encode the files (using lame, oggvorbis flac and/or faac)
                - ID3 tag them (v1 & v2)
                - Optional: creates a playlist (M3U) file (lists MP3s created,
                used by various MP3 players)
                - Optional: Prepares and sends a CDDB submission.

Is the drive connected through the USB bus or PCI? I've had trouble with poorly identified USB devices being turned off by my system. Basically, it does "Safely Remove" instead of "Unmount and Eject"

Try a manual eject from the terminal instead of pushing the drive button.

                  sudo eject -T /dev/sr0

or whatever device your drive occupies.
