    Wifi stopped for no reason

hello I have been running14.04 lts for about a week now and everything has been great. except tonight the wifi has stopped working for some unexpected reason. The icon is showing a red x and wont connect to my home system though my android phone is connected jo problem. My home system is not even listed now!

How to solve this sudden frustrating problem?

Assuming an interrupted update, and assuming all the updated packages were downloaded, open a console and type:
      Code:
      sudo apt-get install -f
      See if this helps.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

In addition to what Snowhog wrote, on some laptops there are switches on the front edge that turn the wifi chip on and off. Does your laptop have such a switch? If so, is it on?

Also, in a console, you can run nm-tool and paste the output in a response. ('nm-tool' is from the package 'network-manager')
