This isn't 14.04 specific, it was doing the same thing with 13.10 but I hoped it would have been fixed with this LTS release. Sadly it hasn't.
Laptop - HP DV6645
Chipset - Nvidia something or other
Sound - NVIDIA Corporation MCP65 High Definition Audio (rev a1)
The sound automatically mutes itself after a few seconds of inactivity, that's annoying in itself but not as annoying as the loud click it makes.
The real problem comes when I plug headphones in. The audio software continually mutes/unmutes and makes never ending clicking noises through the speakers.

Has anyone else encountered this, and does anyone know of a possible fix?
