    okular not working

okular is not working here. I can run the app and open a pdf and it just stalls..does nothing. The terminal spits out:
    Code:
This backend is only for XRandR 1.1, your version is: 1 . 4
    anybody else getting this?

Works fine here (64-bit 14.04, KDE 4.12.95). When searching on okular, Muon shows these three packages as installed:

    okular
    okular-extra-backends
    libokularcore3abi1
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

      libokularcore3abi1 install
      okular install

You have both the 32-bit and 64-bit libokularcore3 libraries installed. Why? If you are running a 64-bit Kubuntu, then you don't need/want libokularcore3.

I purged the libokularcore3, but it didn't help

          Code:
          $ dpkg --get-selections | grep okular
          libokularcore3abi1 install
          okular install
          okular-extra-backends install

Does this 'problem' occur with all types of .pdf documents, or only some?

I have tried numerous pdfs. None of them work. They all worked in saucy. This is a new install and NOT and upgrade.....before you ask.

which is the same as this guy http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f...art=15#p301860 I don't have a dual monitor like that guy, but my monitor is a little unusual in that it doesn't do EDID and I have to spell it out in the xorg.conf. That is the road I am walking down at the moment.

Have you tried using OpenGL 2.0 as your compositing type in 14.04?

I already had opengl 2 for the compositing. I tried some others. It didn't seem to change anything.
