    Strange widget/artifact on screen

When I first boot up, I get this weird thing on my desktop that looks like a widget. Notice it on the top of the screenshot:

After clicking on the desktop, it goes away. What is this? How can I make it go away for good?

When did it first appear? Can you right-click on it?

Looks like a panel squeezed to the smallest size possible.

It first appeared after doing a fresh install of 14.04. Simply hovering over the thing makes it go away. Theres also an icon in the panel for it. There are definitely minimize and close icons, but because hovering over the window makes it close, I cant make the window bigger.

If there is an icon in the system panel for it then why not just set the "hide" setting on it so it doesn't show up? Or, if you can identify plasma widget responsible for it uninstall it.

Thats what I thought at first. Once it stayed longer than usual and I right clicked on it to set special window settings so that I could see the name of the program. Its some kind of plasma-desktop instance...

Well, in theory, one could locate it in a config file and delete it. Usually ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-SOMETHING
