Need Help With Getting Netflix To Run...

I usually don't have any issues with getting Netflix to run on other Ubuntu flavors.
But for some strange reason, I cannot get it to play a movie on Kubuntu. I have
tried everything I could think of and search the net far and wide. It gets to the
main movie selection screen and when I click on a movie, I immediately get the
error window that pops up and the screen goes black and the same error pops up
numerous times. Do you have any ideas of what I could do to get it working?

My system:

HP Slimline 266 mhz
4 gigs mem
128 SSD (Kubuntu's 13.10 using the entire drive)
Built-in Intel graphics 3100

how did you install netflix?

iirc there is a special firefox for wine that can do this easily instalable via a ppa. (more here). i have used this to have netflix working on a few kubuntu machines.

there is a new way using pipelight but i have not tried it : http://www.webupd8.org/2013/08/pipel...our-linux.html

I currently use Netflix Desktop from this ppa: ppa:ehoover/compholio Everything is configured, doesn't interfere with other wine installations and you don't have to change anything with your browser.Once it is installed, you'll find in the start menu under Multimedia.

I think the problem is that netflix knows your not on a Windows computer. You have to change your browser's ID or something like that. Also, if you haven't done so, it would be a good idea to install pipelight. It works with your Kubuntu's Firefox browser.

I use The Netflix Linux desktop. I also use an agent switcher in Firefox to change the user agent reported to IE 7. I currently get underrun errors from ALSA that cause the video to lag the audio but otherwise it works. Make that audio lags the video.

I just installed it on my new build. It seemed very easy. Here is what I did.

Open Muon Package Manager>type in Netflix in the search area>Highlight and install "netflix-desktop".

I wasn't expecting to read your post, so I am trying to remember if "wine-compholio (i386) had to be separately installed. I don't think so, I think installation from here is guided by your computer.

Nonetheless, there will have to be downloaded a mono wine install, which as I remember it is a continuation of the "netflix-desktop" installation,

I believe that is all there is to it. If you can see that the Wine download and installation has taken place, open Muon and type in Netflix again. If everything has been installed, you will see that "netflix-desktop" has been installed, and "wine-compholio (i386)" has been installed.

Open Kmenu>Applications>Multimedia>Netflix At this point, I right-click on Netflix and pin it to Favorites, but if you just click on it, Netflix will open. You will have to enter your login Info, and the menu is then available. Select your movie and view.
