How to connect an .ics file to Thunderbird-Lightning

Hi,
I received an .ics file with calendar info. When I click it the calendar function in Korganizer is opened. Since I don't use that program I would like the contents of the file to be copied to my calendar in Lightning, the calendar add-on in Thunderbird.
When I chose Thunderbird as default program to open the .ics file, a new mail is opened with the .ics file as attachment. This is not what I want, I want the contents to be placed in my calendar.
How to do that?
