    Need Help Installing kde-connect

    Hi All:
I am trying to follow the instructions provided by the following link to
install kde-connect on my Kubuntu 13.10 (Upgraded 12.04>13.04>13.10).

    http://xmodulo.com/2014/01/integrate...x-desktop.html

I get the "true" in response to the first command. However, the following list
is outputed in konsol after entering the second command given in the
    instructions.
I would appreciate any help on this.
    Thanks in avance!

But does KDE Connect appear in System Settings?
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

No, it does not. I even logged out and back in to make sure, but still no KDE-Connect.

I just installed kdeconnect-kde and ran the first command only:
        Code:
        qdbus org.kde.kded /kded loadModule kdeconnect
        and got 'true'.

In System Settings, under Hardware, the icon is there, although not named KDE Connect as shown on the site you linked to. Instead, it shows just as Devices:

        You don't see this?

Just to add. The first command got me as far as Snowhog shows and I do get some functionality. The second command throws an error.

          Code:
qdbus: could not find a Qt installation of ''
Linux because it works. No social or political motives in my decision to use it.

            You don't see this?
Now, I do see that icon similar to yours. Did you try the second command at all?
Is not the second comand to built and integrate it into the system?

            @richb
Did you follow though the entire instructions as described in the link in my OP? What functionality do you have?

None the less, should I be following the rest of instructions? Right now there is no response at all to my pluging in the android small phone.

As I indicated I got an error on the second instruction and the third. I did follow the connection procedures on the phone and computer. I get notifications of phone calls, can share the clipboard either way. By the way plugging in is not how it works. It only works through your wifi network.

                Thanks guys!
I will try to follow the instructions through and see if I can pair with my phone through the wireless.

For those who do not know what KDE connect is supposed to do, OF WHICH I AM ONE WHO DID NOT!:

It "connects" an Android Phone to the computer:

Over time more features will be added. At present KDE Connect is able to ‘fuse’ the following between phone and desktop:

                  Call & SMS Notifications
App Notifications & Alerts (Android 4.3+ only)
                  Battery status report
                  Clipboard syncing
                  Media player controls (MPRIS)
                  File transfer
of PARTICULAR interest to the old woodsmoker and possibly others is: "file transfer".

                  http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2013/09/i...-notifications

THIS "might" be the workaround the "mtp protocol ended" situation. or it might not, but...

ALL THOSE PICTURES that are on the stoopid phone, which, to transfer to the computer one either goes through something like Google +, or tethering or...removing the SIM card, (for which one has to change the default storage pathway setting on the phone)... so...hmmm

                  INTERESTING THREAD!!!!

I have not been able to get the file transfer to work. Could be because of the errors on the second and third install commands. There is no setting wrench in the plugin window as the website shows.

By the way wifi file transfer, an Android app, does file transfer to a computer quite nicely through your computer browser.

Yes, brilliant. Still cannot quite figure how to get file sharing.

Well, now with Woodsmoke's post and its included link, the present statue of Kde-Connect has become a bit more clear to me.
                            Thanks for the sharing Woodsmoke!

File transfers work for me, I have "KDE Connect" option when sharing files from my Android phone. I do not believe sharing the other way is in there (yet).
