I tried HDMI last year and it thought it was 1080p. I just tried again. Now it has the 720 setting but the horizontal is set to 1280 and it should be 1366. I would change it manually but that result ion is not in the list. Is there any way I can fix this. Will the new Kubuntu that is being developed fix this? Not that the new version is any where near ready for normal use yet. I would help you test that but I don't have enough HD space to make separate partitions for it so I don't risk my main system files.

Would help if we knew the model of your VISO HDMI monitor and what it's manual says the resolution of a connected PC is supposed to be. Also, what output resolutions does your PC support in HDMI output?Last edited by Snowhog; Dec 25, 2013, 02:43 PM.Windows no longer obstructs my view.

I suspected you would ask for the model. I guess I will have to squeeze in back of the TV to check. I don't have the manual. Display configuration - System Settings says:
1920x1080i
1440x576i
1280x720 that's the one auto selects.
7200X576
720X480
640X480Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

I used to have a similar model to this tv, but it was a few years ago. The problem is likely that the unit does not correctly report the edid data, so that xorg can't determine what settings to use. The manual shows a resolution of 1360 x 76, which is an oddball size.
You likely will have to generate mode lines, etc, for a custom org.conf or other configuration.

To be completely clear the manual in your link refers to the 10A version and mine is the 20A version.Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

Hmmm.... https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showth...operly-in-xorg -
and I did see some possibly good links in a google search -

I am away from home atm (sorry for the brazen quick handoff to Google), but there are some links that look to show your specific TV model that might help.

I found out from a google search that the mode lines in /var/log/xorg0.log are ignored by the Intel driver. Instead it seems to use the output of my GMA 45 Graphics chip.Last edited by steve7233; Dec 25, 2013, 08:24 PM.Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

Why is there still no Main repository for Saucy Salamander? I wanted to try an xrand command but I need x11-xserver-utils from the main repo.
In case anyone is wondering why I want HDMI when VGA works, its because HDMI is digital and VGA is anolog.VGA ports should probably not be on computers of the future since the world is going digital. It seems a wast of money to buy a VGA port now days if your monitor or TV has an HDMI or DVI port.Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.
