muon hangs - waiting for configuration file

Muon updater donwloads and installs (I think) updates. It then hangfs with the message: Waiting for configuration file.

I have to use ksysguard to kill the updater.

Any way to fix this problem?

This is only on my desktop. The laptop works fine.

Is muon failing to update sources or packages?

    Open a terminal and run:

    sudo apt-get update

then note which repo(s) are failing if any. Then then run:

    sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

and note what errors you get there. Post your results.

Ran the first command. It terminated with the message: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.

Ran that command, which displayed the message: Configuration file `/etc/gnome/defaults.list'
==> Modified (by you or by a script) since installation.
==> Package distributor has shipped an updated version.
What would you like to do about it ? Your options are:
      Y or I : install the package maintainer's version
      N or O : keep your currently-installed version
D : show the differences between the versions
Z : start a shell to examine the situation
The default action is to keep your current version.
      *** defaults.list (Y/I/N/O/D/Z) [default=N] ? y
Installing new version of config file /etc/gnome/defaults.list ...

And seemed to setup quite a few more packages.

The muon updater then display the icon for some updates.

Clicked the icon and let the updater run. It finished normally.

So maybe that fixed the problem .?.

      Thanks.

It also stated that I needed to restart Firefox to avoid problems. Currently downloading 13.10. Will have to stop the donwload and restart.

Whoops - I think I spoke too soon. Ran 'sudo apt-get update' - no errors

Tried running muon tis morning. IT starts and then after about 30 seconds, it just exits. No window, nothing.

So something is broken. Any suggestions on finding out what and how to repair?

            Thanks.

Ensure that you have these packages installed:
              libmuonprivate1
              muon
              muon-discover
              muon-installer
              muon-notifier
              muon-updater
