    2 files compare

    Very simple.

I am under SEVERE time constraints.

Is there an "app" or is there something in Dolphin or Rocoll, of which I am not aware whereby I can "compare" the "files' on a usb and the "copied to" files on the hard drive to make sure that they are the same...

    or...

If I do Dolphin from a usb to the hard drive and the files, in Dolphin, "seem" to be the same, then

    they are the same.

in other words............." can I trust Dolphin"? to just copy and place?

a question and any help will be appreciated. again, under time constraints.

Kdiff3 *might* do what you want. It's in the repositories. Very small footprint. Very fast.

"kompare" is another option, which also integrates into dolphin:
Comparing A Selection Of Files or Folders
If the Kompare application is installed, you can use it to see the differences between two files or folders.
First select the two files or folders to be compared. Then launch the Kompare application via the Tools menu: Tools → Compare Files. Kompare will then open showing the differences between the files or folders.
You can also add "compare" as a toolbar button in dolphin (for quicker access) if kompare is installed.

if you talking about binary files you can always use md5sum to get an md5 of the source and the copy and be sure they match.
              (md5sum <filename>)
you could also use vbindiff to diff the binaries similar to how you can diff text files.

Hi guys, no they were a folder of .doc files that I had to copy and move in a very quick manner, to make sure they had been copied perzaktly.

As a quick and dirty, of course, Dolphin saying that copying was done pops after such, but I just was very paranoid.

I think Kompare is probably what I will use in the future.

                thanks again.

If a mod wants to close this as solved ok, but there may be other suggestions, so..dunno.
