Well, then you're definitely not using a PPA to obtain those, so ppa-purge is not going to help you.

Returning to your problem...you're trying to perform a do-release-upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10 and it's failing? And you suspect the failure is because you have installed Intel's binary graphics stack?

      Yes because...

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

      This can be caused by:
      * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
      * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
      * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the
      command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal.

Unless you think this is a bug.
Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

        I'm looking here: https://01.org/linuxgraphics/downloads

Some options that I can think of...

        * Uninstall the Intel stack and allow the computer to boot generic VESA. Perform the upgrade. Try the Intel installer 1.0.2, even though it's for 13.04. It might fail.

        * Uninstall the Intel stack and allow the computer to boot generic VESA. Perform the upgrade. Compile the individual bits from the 2013Q3 stack.

        * Wait for Intel to release a newer installer for 13.10.

You will need to consult the Intel documentation to find out. Sorry I can't be more helpful -- I've never used that stack.

I deleted the repository as per the Intel web site but the upgrade still fails.

I go into Software Sources and delete the Intel graphics installer ppa. I click close then open the Software Sources again to make sure it is still gone. It is. I run the upgrade command in a terminal. It errors out like before. I check Software Sources again only to find the Intel repository is back in the list. I am thinking maybe I should send a bug report to Launch Pad about the sudo do-release-upgrade -d being bugged.

Just for my peace of mind, could you cd to /var/log/dist-upgrade and paste the output to the following two commands here:

                  cat main.log | grep ERROR

                  and

                  cat apt.log | grep Broken

                  Thanks

Open a console and look in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ for the 'other' repository .list files. My guess is that you have the intel one in there, and that you had also added it in the default sources.list file.

In /etc/apt, the 'default' sources file is: sources.list

                          In your /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ you have:

                          intellinuxgraphics.list

                          Open a console and type:
                          Code:
                          cat /etc/apt/sources.list
Include the output in your reply. Then type:
                          Code:
                          cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/intellinuxgraphics.list
Copy it into your reply also.

                                cat main.log | grep ERROR

                                and

                                cat apt.log | grep Broken

                                Thanks
I was just looking back at the 1st few replies and noticed that you forgot to tell me to add the -i switch when getting the list of broken packages from apt.log. Here is the output using the correct syntax:

Good thing I decided to check to make sure you didn't forget to type something. Just remember the old saying 'To err is humane but to really screw up is to use a computer'
Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.
