Since I've upgraded to 13.10, everytime my computer boots up the sound volume (alsamixer's "Master") is reset to 42%. Each time I have to use alsamixer (or any sound control tool) to pump it back up to 100% again.
Googling for this problem, everyone seems to have solved this problem by performing a
after they updated their volume using alsamixer. For me, this doesn't work.
I have no idea where to look. Tips?

(Running 64-bit ubuntu 13.10 that was updated continuously from a 10.04, with onboard sound. Sound has never been a problem, worked out of the box)
