    Modeswitch bug in Saucy

    Affects latest version of modeswitch/modeswitch-data.
The latest version according to Draisberghof is 1.2.6, dated 2013-06-02.

When attempting to upgrade from the older version 1.2.3 +repakc... to modeswitch dated 2013-06-10 it will conflict with modeswitch-data dated 2013-06-10. An incomplete bug report was filed (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...h/+bug/1185527) but apparently no action has been taken as of today.

The repositories still show the older version, however in my attempts to look at this mystery I briefly found the new version from 2013-06-10 in synaptic package manager. It installs all be itself, but modeswitch itself cannot be installed because of dependency problems.

Has this conflict been resolved for 13.04? And if not, does anyone know how to update modeswitch to the latest version in 13.10?

Since the original bug report was never updated/corrected, it appears that nobody is working on resolving the conflicts.

      Thank you, OneLine.

The references given lead only to the older version of modeswitch/modeswitch-data.
the latest version can be downloaded from draisberhof. However, there still is the dependency problem.
I wonder whether anyone is working on this.

The "usb-modeswitch-data" was copied from the Debian Sid - https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/saucy/+...ata/20130610-1 :
        Published on 2013-06-11
Copied from debian sid in Primary Archive for Debian GNU/Linux by Ubuntu Archive Auto-Sync (sponsored by Ubuntu Archive Robot)
        The Debian Sid has: http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages -> http://packages.debian.org/search?ke...le&section=all

When the "usb-modeswitch" is synced with Sid the problem will disappear...

Thank you for the added info. I will have to explore this with lots of time available. Whenever I rush things, I screw up my system.

Looks like my last post is not shown in the thread.
I applied the suggestions made by OneLine. It solved the problem. Modeswitch-data-20130613 was already installed - don't ask me how I did it.
Used the modeswitch file from debian.org as suggested above.
            Thank you all.
