Attempt to watch Hulu via Kubuntu failed

Last night I hooked my Lenovo laptop up to my TV via an HDMI cable looking forward to watching a TV show via Hulu. When I booted it up, I could see Grub and then after I chose it the Kubuntu logo and then the login screen. However, after I typed in my password, only the default Kubuntu wallpaper loaded onto the TV screen and nothing else. On my laptop screen everything loaded including my custom wallpaper and everything you normally see. It just wouldn't display to the TV screen for some reason.

So I rebooted into Windows and everything went from laptop to TV screen just fine. However, when I started watching my TV show and right when it got to a fascinating part, Firefox pops up a screen that says, "Howdy thar! I betcha wanna update yer doggone browser right in the middle of this here show, doncha?" So I get out of my comfortable chair to click "no" and then Flash crashes, shutting off my show. Then it would not reload.

So I switched to Chrome and started the show again, which, thanks to Hulu and its ads would only start at the beginning. So I'm watching again and Kaspersky Internet Security decides, "Whell, heck, I betcha the perfect dang time to do a rootkit scan and update mah definitions, slowing down the computer and making the video choppy, is when he's watching his favorite TV show, wuh-huh huh-huh-huh. I tell ya whut, I'm a shore dedicated to makin' this here comptin' experience enjoyable!"

So you see why I'd rather watch Hulu via Kubuntu if at all possible.

did you try dragging a window from the laptop to the TV ,,,,, ? or going to system settings>display and monitor to see how it was setup.

Thanks for the ideas. Gonna try that next time I try to watch TV via stream. I'm also looking into a possible utility to download Hulu TV as a file. Then I could watch the show from a thumb drive or a DVD-RW (and fast forward through the commercials).
