Rednotebook: Thai language in calendar and menus

Hello, all. I ve installed rednotebook and I have thai language (I think) in the calendar and menus... How do I get it back to English?

I've installed through the muon and the deb. from the website but no difference/

The Rednotebook seems to be a GTK application so this may or may not work. With the KDE/Qt applications you could set/force the language with the command:

export LANG=country_COUNTRY.UTF-8

i.e
export LANG=en_US.UTF-8
or
export LANG=en_GB.UTF-8
or
export LANG=C

and then start the Rednotebook.

:~$ rednotebook

Yes, it is with the konsole.

If it is working, then you could add it to the KDE menu with the the KDE menu editor. Tested with the Yarock - a Qt app:

export LANG=<YOUR LANGUAGE> && command_to_execute

Your Rednotebook seems to start to the debug mode and it seems to think that the system encoding is ANSI_X3.4-1968.

I would check the locale settings and the Rednotebook installation.

The Rednotebook settings are saved to the hidden /.rednotebook/ directory.



If the locale settings are ok I would try to start with the clean Rednotebook settings. Clean settings - rename the rednotebook directory and then start the rednotebook.

It looks like it is Khmer? Cambodian?! How do I change it?

It seems that you have somewhere an environment variable setting file with the Khmer locales.

Have you looked all the KDE locale settings through ?
KDE System Settings > Locale

For an user:

If you want to narrow the search - Is it an user or system wide problem ?
Make a new user and check the new user locales.
Does the new user have the Khmer locales ?

I have checked the locals and everything is set to English, and the preferred language is american English. I am still getting the khmer menu only in rednotebook, is there a terminal command for a system wide reset?

Where is this stuff coming from?

You just need to change the system locales being used. See Locale

If you want more fine-grained control, you may manually change your system's locale entries by modifying the file /etc/default/locale.
For example on a German system, to prevent system messages from being translated, you may use:

but the terminal is telling me command not found. What would the terminal command be to change everything to US English?

Press Alt+F2 and type: kdesudo kate /etc/default/locale
Press enter and type in your password. Kate will open with the file ready for editing. Just ensure that the contents are:

LANGUAGE="en_US"

Save and close the file. You will have to log out and back in for the change to take effect.

I am adding the last line right? Where is this KM coming from? I can assure you I did not put Khmer in my computer
