    Kubuntu and HFS?

Does anyone have any experience/advice using Mac formatted portable hard drives with Kubuntu?

ps. I was reading a bit online about it but seemed unclear except for warning about journalling...

No experience here, but if you're going to be doing this alot you might look at this:

Apparently Paragon's solution doesn't support kernels newer than 2.6.38 (which is a couple of years old now).

However, there is some info here that may be of help: http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/...hfsplus.7.html

I would have guessed there is some package I could install like the one for exFAT to make it all work. I kept hearing "hfsprogs" being mentioned. Seems there is an Ubuntu package for it as well. Though no one clearly states that is the solution.

well i could be wrong but i would install the following packages.

          hfsplus, hfsutils and hfsprogs

hfsplus says is read/write for hfs+ volumes. hfsutils is the same for hfs. and hfsprogs contains mkfs and fsck (create and check ) for hfs and hfs+ volumes.
