Firefox Freezes with Grey Screen

I upgrade to v13 "raring" and now Firefox freezes frequently with a gray screen. This happens even if I start Firefox in safe mode.

Incidentally, this also happens to Thunderbird with no plugins or add-ons.

Anyone know why or how to fix it? Here's my system info from Firefox:

this happens to me too, changing system settings such as plasma theme seems to trigger it, also keeping firefox minimized for some time...also looking for a fix

Perhaps a clean install instead of upgrade would help as I have had no problems with Firefox on my system. However I am running the Blue Shell KDE integrated one.

This has been discussed here (http://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthr...ox+thunderbird) and maybe some other threads. There are also launchpad bug reports.

It seems to be a problem in the oxygen-gtk theme.

Turning off gtk event sounds in .gtkrc-2.0 didn't solve the problem for me. I am currently trying out the suggestion to change the GTK themes to Raleigh and Emacs in System Settings, Application Appearance, GTK. I've only been getting the freezes in Firefox and Thunderbird maybe once a week, so only time will tell.

Since I also have the 'grey screen' problem, I have looked around a little and found several websites with suggested solutions. Unfortunately, the one that solved my problem (until the next OS upgrade) got lost in one of the freezes.

Firefox freezing happens to me quite a bit as well. It usually happens when I'm going through an update with Muon. I would also love to knpow how to fix it as well.

I was having the same issues. Todays FF update seemed to have remedied it (for now) will have to run FF and TB for a lot longer to be sure though.

I haven't had Firefox or Thunderbird freeze since installling it and changing back to the oxygen-gtk theme. Whew, what a relief from Raliegh.
