A friend just gave me an HP Envy 2 convertible. Trying to get Kubuntu 13.04 Plasma Active on it. So far it will not boot from USB stick or a DVD drive. I have disabled secure boot in the bios and changed the boot order appropriately. There does not seem to be a legacy boot option in the bios. I do have the latest bios. Possible it is not possible to install.

Hi mate,
I've done some googling and it seems you're not the only one having problems:

Suggests the BIOS won't let you boot from anything other than the HDD, so maybe you need to remove the HDD and install Kubuntu to it from another machine, then put it back in?

Ah sorry, I forgot it was a tablet style case. Can you get to anything that looks like an EFI shell? Perhaps if you could install the shell from Windows, you could then use the shell to install Kubuntu?Last edited by Feathers McGraw; Feb 23, 2014, 06:37 AM.

Thinking about it, installing rEFInd might help too. It automatically scans for all .efi stubs at boot. When I booted my computer with a live USB in it without realising, it auto detected the boot loader on the USB.
