    Notifications seem broken after update

After i Installed Kubuntu 13.10, i was really impressed with the notifications that KDE were using (i came from Ubuntu with gnome). However, as soon as i installed updates, the notifications stopped working as they did before and started being displayed in a rather ugly fashion from the top of the screen.

I am not using that computer right now because i am at work however this is what i saw before:

and this is what i had after the update:

(i am referring to the gray notification in the above image. Also, it is displayed at the top center of the screen rather than from the bottom right)

Once i am at home ill try and post a picture of how my notifications look now.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and what i can do to solve it?

Just a guess but it looks like transparencies are not working. Maybe try using the proprietary video drivers or reinstall them if you have them installed. I personally use the xswat ppa.
    ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
However I don't like the KDE notifications I prefer Colibri because you can click through them.

This is under the Kubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail.

If the KDE plasma desktop is not running (when the KDE is starting or shutting down) some of the KDE notifications are shown without eye candy of the plasma system.

      Plasma is running (1):

      Plasma is not running (1):

The plasma notifications are the default option but they can be disabled

The plasma notifications can be disabled from the System Tray Settings.

Right click System Tray > System Tray Settings

The notifications are shown without the plasma.

      (1) Example notifications with the "kdialog --passivepopup <text> <timeout>". Plasma desktop stop: "kquitapp plasma-desktop" Start: "plasma-desktop".
