Hi
I've just upgraded to KUbuntu 13.04 (from 12.04 LTS - I skipped 12.10 as there was a printing problem with CUPS: there seemed to be no way to print from 12.10 if the print server runs CUPS v.1.5 - a well documented problem on launchpad).
But I can't print in acroread or from the terminal (Konsole). I can print fine from Firefox, TBird, Libre Office, Evince, ... . Acroread doesn't see the networked printers (of which we have about 10), whereas the others all offer the full list of printers.
Any suggestions? I have no idea how different software could behave differently here!
In the terminal, if I hit
> lpq
I'm told the default printer is ready. But if I try
> lpr test.pdf
I get no error message, just nothing prints.
Thanks
James M
ps I have just noticed that KDE's Printers Settings works ok (it sees the list of printers on the server and can print a test page)
pps In case it's relevant, I made a change in ~/.cups/client.conf:
ServerName = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
changed to
ServerName = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx / version=1.1
which gets around the cups version problem mentioned above.
