Ethernet cable not recognized after boot

Hi,

I hava a Elitebook 2530p with a fresh Kubuntu 13.04 installd and have a little, but annoying network issue.
When I plug in the ethernet cable it is not recognized.
When I start the system with the cable plugged in everything is fine, but if I unplug it it's not recognized anymore. network-manager says: "cable removed" and dmesg is silent, too.

I have no clue where to look or how to start it manually (the old ifup/ifdown doesn't work anymore and I don't know another new method)

Hi Paul,

I have a similar problem with my Dell (see other threads in this forum). The fix for me is to issue

echo on | sudo tee /sys/class/net/eth0/device/power/control

and up it comes with no other problems.
