    VPN Problems

I see that there is another thread on this same topic so I wasn't sure if I should start a new one or reply to that one. I opted to start a new one.

I'm trying to connect to a VPN as well. I'm connecting fine on this same machine in windows 8 that I have on another hard drive. I can connect to the VPN fine on my android phone. I configured the network manager with the correct settings on the VPN tab. I go to connect and it sits saying, "Connecting..." for about 5-7 seconds and then says unable to connect or something of that nature. I've tried on my laptop and my desktop (Both Kubuntu 13.04) and I'm getting the same thing on both. Any help would be most appreciated.

What type of VPN? Provider? Settings(link to them)?

My provider has how-to's for just about everything, even a script that sets up the settings and makes sure the correct network-manager vpn plugin is installed. (openVPN)

I have found that if I was having a connection problem (on my Lubuntu 12.10 box) that either resetting the password for the vpn, or deleting the entry from network-manager and re-creating the connection info for the particular address seemed to fix the connection. Also, some of my provider's many servers simply worked more reliably than others. I have not had a problem on my Raring/KDE system at all.

The provider is owncube in Austria. It's a PTPP connection. I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for when asking me to link to the settings. There's only a server, username, and password.

As far as the password goes, I did already reset it. In fact, I'm in Windows right now using the VPN connection. As I stated in my initial post, I can connect find in windows and android. It's only on KDE that I'm having trouble. How do I install the correct network-manager vpn plugin? Or at least check to see if its installed?

Well, yes, asking for info for one could lead to asking for the other , as different VPN connections need more/different settings

Look for network-manager-pptp. KDE's network-manager allows you to enter pptp info even if the plugin is not installed, if my memory is correct (when I was testing various VPN services) I had to install it.

Use the Muon Package Manager. Enter network-manager in the search box.

Unfortunately, I've forgotten nearly everything I used to know about PPTP, so I can't offer much in the way of troubleshooting tips. If you're adventurous, I'd suggest Googling on the error message.
                Code:
nm-pptp-service-4181 log[main:pptp.c:314]: The synchronous pptp option is NOT activated
