Thinkpad R31 graphics not rendering properly

I have a Lenovo R31. I upgraded to 13 version which went well, but now the video drivers are not rendering properly but were working fine before the upgrade.

    Any suggestions?

Intel 830 MG chipset Integrated Direct AGP 3D Graphics dynamically allocates system main memory for video memory usage up to 32 MB based on application, demand, and available memory resource.

I would have posted a link, but I can't post links until I have more posts.

From the little bit of Googling I did, it appears that the Intel Linux graphics drivers no longer support the 830 MG.

Thanks! Is there any way to get the drivers off the version 12 DVD I burned? I'll do some more searching when I have time. I was really hoping to be able to use this computer as a backup.

When you say "version 12," do you mean 12.04 (Precise) or 12.10 (Quantal)?

How did you perform the upgrade to 13.04?

          I installed 12.10.

Worked flawlessly! It even found my old 3Com wireless laptop card since the R31 has no built in wireless.

I did some updates to 12.10, and then did the upgrade through the package manager. The upgrade went without a hitch and when I rebooted I noted that the graphics were not rendering the colors properly. I don't care about the fancy stuff of the card if capable, I would just like the colors to display normally as with 12.10.

May I see the output of
            Code:
            lspci -k
            and
            Code:
            cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log

                  Ok, here is the update.

I was using Opera as a web browser because Rekonq crashes each and every time I run it. I did install Firefox, and it ran only once properly and had properly rendered pics and hereafter it is crashing my computer.

                  Probably nothing wrong with driver.

Wow, those are super hard to read without carriage returns...how did you capture the text?

Anyway, it seems that the i915 driver is working fine still for that old chipset, even though Intel's web site no longer lists it. I'd probably rule that out, then, as the source of your problem. Sounds like something else is malfunctioning, given your description of trouble with browsers.

You could try installing 13.04 directly, rather than via an upgrade. Not sure what else to suggest at the moment.

                      Sorry about the mess!

I opened the terminal separately for each command and selected all of the text to copy.

I'll try installing fresh. I have Ubuntu/XP on an R61 I installed myself.

This is one thing keeps from going full Linux is the tendency for the upgrades to break something though it is not practical to test every configuration out there. Modem support would be appreciated to on the newer computers.

                      Thanks!
