The KDE network manager icon has been an ongoing cause of trouble in several of my Kubuntu incarnations. I used to corcumvent it by using the Gnome network-manager instead - until I ran into 'keyring' problems with that one.
After re-installing Kubuntu 13.04 the KDE icon was back - for about one week.
Now it is gone again leaving an empty spot behind. When putting the mouse cursor over it, the icon briefly appears and then goes away.
I can right click on the empty spot and the an options menu appears. Simple clicking on the empty area miraculously makes the network-manager appear like a ribbit out of the hat.
However, I am not pleased. I do not like magicians!
There have been many references to this issue both here on the forum and on the Net. None of the suggested solutions worked for me. And I want to avoid going back to Gnome network manager for fear of messing up my system again.
Does anyone know a lasting solution to this annoying problem?
