Good evening. I am trying to install Kubuntu 13.04 AMD64.
I booted the live cd.
I opened my existing encrypted LVM with luksOpen, vgscan, and vgchange. At this point, my partitions are visible to the installer. I selected my mount points and filesystems as normal. The system installed without issue.
When I rebooted I was never asked for my encryption passphrase and the system dropped to a busybox cli.
I rebooted to the live cd.
I opened my encrypted partition and made the LVM active. I added cryptdevice=/dev/sdax:system to /etc/default/grub, and ran update-grub. This did not work. I suspect I need to do something with the initramfs.
I read an article about the subject on the Ubuntu wiki. I added several encryption modules to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and ran update-initramfs -u.
The reboot failed, no query for encryption passphrase, drop to busybox. I'd like to get this working. I have several people at work that ask for Linux advice. I'd like to be able to recommend Kubuntu.
