Libreoffice 4.0.1.2 - Thanks Very Much!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to thank the developers for an excellent job at getting LibreOffice 4.0.1.2 available and it is working very well.

The only complaint that I have is that with Impress, a slide with multimedia does not have any identification, ie it is a blank slide. The previous version showed a question mark which was useful if not totally appropriate.

It is good to see all the dependencies worked out and I look forward to using this new version.

    I'm just loving LibreOffice 4.0.x.

I like they way that I'm forced to choose between the US and GB versions of the help files. I never could understand why anyone would want them both to be installed.

Thanks for reminding me to install the LibreOffice GB files. On my system there are no US spelling or help files installed, so I only have the GB ones.

I unfortunately have had to do a reinstall of 13.04 as I fell foul of using the pre-release packages and I could not get past the login screen. After doing a re-install, I found that LibreOffice Impress required additional packages to show video in a presentation. The extra packages that I found necessary are:
      Code:
      gst123
      gstreamer1.0-libav
I have also found that by reloading a video, an image of one frame of the video content is shown on the slide. So there is definitely an excellent indication of a slide's video content. The only problem that I have encountered is when playing an mp4 video. On my Laptop, there is a green border about 4mm wide along the top of the image and on the left side. On another desktop with 13.04, this border is not present. I find it ironical that if I use a .wmv file, it plays perfectly.

Is there anyone else who has tried embeded .mp4 videos and then got a green border on the top and left side?

Remember, they've introduced some basic theme support. So now you can make it less ugly!

I am wondering what you mean by "basic theme support"?

The problem that I have is shown in the attached graphics. The image on the right without the green border is what the mp4 file looks like before playing the video. The green border appears as shown in the image on the left when the video is played and stays for the total duration.

This mp4 file plays perfectly with VLC, Dragon Player and Kaffeine and does not have any green border.

            From: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/...eNotes/4.0#GUI

Support Firefox Personas in LibreOffice. With LibreOffice 4.0, you can choose Tools ▸ Options… ▸ Personalization ▸ Select Persona, choose a persona you like in your browser, paste its address to the dialog, confirm, and LibreOffice will use that. (Jan Holesovsky)

I followed the procedures to add persona and other than changing to look of LibreOffice, it did nothing to change the nature of the problem that I was facing with the green border top and side.

I personally prefer a simple layout without a lot of fancy graphics and I am not sure how long I will use persona.

How is the libreoffice-kde theming looking? Do menu drop shadows work properly now? I'm a sucker for good looking drop shadows.....

Many of the persona themes I find too distracting for the menu options and I have to look harder to find the item I want. With ones that are mainly black, the menu bar File . . Help options are not visible before clicking arbitrarily in the area. The one that I have found useful is http://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/persona/3286.

I use drop shadows sparingly. I find that there are two ways to do drop shadows. One is to use the shadow button which I find gives a black shadow when the background is black. As for many of my slides I have a black background and this is not useful. I have to make sure that the shadow button is off and use Format>Area>Shadow where I can select the colour of the shadow as well as its distance.

After about 4 days with no updates from the Australian Server, I decided to change to the Main Server and I had a truckload of updates, one of which was gstreamer1.0-libav. I am please to say that the problem with the green border top and side is now fixed and the mp4 file plays perfectly.
