Fairly often (perhaps 50/50 chance) the password entry field to unlock the screen blanker (kblankscrn.kss) seems unfocused by default. I know that I could reach for the mouse and click explicitly into the password entry field first, but given that by far the most frequent action at the authentication dialog is the typing of the password, it seems to me a superfluous and bothersome requirement.
Note: If the password entry field does not have focus, pressing ENTER after first typing uselessly into the void causes authentication to fail (no password entered, and often I type too fast to notice at first), and only then, a few moments later, does the password entry field gain focus and I can authenticate myself properly.
