Hurray!!!!!! - Medibuntu is now available

So far, I have not seen any mention on this forum that Medibuntu is available for Raring Ringtale. A couple of days ago, I installed it after previously using the Quantal one. I used the procedure given at this site. Hope you enjoy the extras available.

Does it make sense to install Medibuntu? I thought KDE has concurring codes which are not really running smooth, if Medibuntu is installed with Kubuntu.

I keep fighting for an independent Scotland without any nuclear weapons. If the Englanders want them, they can host them. We do not.

My reason for installing medibuntu is to have access to the extra packages that are available here. These are not included in KDE. If you have no need for the extra packages, then you won't need to install the medibuntu ppa.

I am asking, because I get with Kaffeine my satellite TV well working, but the scrambled channel for the Swiss TV are recognised but they rest mute and dark. Of course, I have all the necessary CAM and the real smartcard, which works perfectly on the living room satellite decoder. So I think it might be a certain codec or so.

I read the page, but even if I install Medibuntu, I would not have a clue which app offered I would have to install. Do you have any suggestions?

Sorry to hear that you are having difficulties with Kaffeine. I assume that you have w-scan installed. Other than that, I have no experience with Satellite TV.

I have a different set of problems with Kaffeine in that with Digital TV channels, I have trouble tuning into all but about two stations. I have solved this problem by tuning to the one that works well and then go to the one I want to view. Alternately, if it won't tune, I exit and restart and it then works. Not a very elegant solution, but it gets me by.

Yes, I have w-scan installed. I can tune into these six channels. I get all info of the EPG. Just no pic and no sound, which for me points to a missing codec? Or a broken thingy into which the CAM is pushed...

I have a file which I keep all the packages which in the past I have installed with a new distribution. Around Kaffeine I have libxine1-all-plugins, libdvdcss2, libxine1-ffmpeg, non-free-codecs. Also with Kaffeine I also have installed libxine1-x.
