LibreOffice Impress 4.0 beta2 Fails Multimedia

Before LibreOffice 4.0 beta2 became available from the repositories, I downloaded it from the LibreOffice site,
    Code:
    LibO-Dev_4.0.0.0.beta2_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz
    LibO-Dev_4.0.0.0.beta2_Linux_x86-64_langpack-deb_en-GB.tar.gz
and installed it. With this downloaded file I found that an Impress file with mp4 files in it showed no video but did play the associated sound.

I removed the above version from the LibreOffice site and used the version from the repositories. For this version, the Impress file played neither the video or the associated sound. It also took considerably longer to load the file.

I was hoping for a better result. But until this problem is resolved, I will not install Kubuntu 13.04 raring on my main system which I use for presentations.

Resolved the Load Delay for Multimedia files

To speed up LibreOffice Impress 4.0, I installed stacks of gstreamer files including the good bad and ugly ones. The list that I now have is shown in the attached graphic. Unfortunately the names are barely readable as I reduced the resolution to satisfy the requirements on this forum. With these files installed, the buttons for play, pause and stop now show being depressed but nothing happens and all is quiet with no visuals!!! In the Impress slide window, the files show a sound symbol whereas on my 12.10 system it is a question mark.

I have, to my surprise, found that we now have Libreoffice 4.0.0 beta2 being forced on us. Just for the record, the release schedule for Libreoffice is shown here. So the last date for the Beta 2 release was 23 Dec 2012. The last date for the final version was 10 Feb 2013, ie 10 days ago and this was preceded by release candidates RC1, 2 and 3.

How could the developers release such an old version which DOES NOT SUPPORT MULTIMEDIA files in Impress?

I am currently not accepting any updates until a working version is provided, ie the final version of 4.0 or the previous version 3.6.2.2.

I ended up giving up on not installing LibreOffice 4.0 beta 2 so that I could get all the other updates. I decided to try to get multimedia files to work and finally did so. Since then I have been trying to locate the files that make multimedia work. From my testing I have found these file essential
        Code:
        gstreamer1.0-alsa
        gstreamer1.0-plugins-good
I have many other gstreamer files installed but when I removed these, LibreOffice would not play multimedia, ie AVI, mp3 and mp4 files.

Last Sunday I used this for a presentation, which only had a linked an audio file using the Interaction option. What I was pleased to see was, that I could click on the text in the control window, which had the interaction, and when I moved the cursor to the screen edge, the sound file was started. So there was no need to move the cursor onto the projected image. I am very pleased with the end result and all went well without a hitch
