Firefox won't down load flashplay .deb file!

It downloads everyone else's .deb file but it will not download the flashplayer installer. 64 bit for ubuntu.

    The address wasn't understood

Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (apt) isn't associated with any program.

You might need to install other software to open this address.

How come I can dowload other deb files like the steam for linux but not flashplayer? Is this just Adobe or what? Firefox 18.0.1 for Ubuntu 1.0
Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

You can get Firefox to understand and use the apt protocol by following the instructions here - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ap...based_browsers

Open your sources and enable everything. Then refresh your repos and try again! just search "flash" and you'll find something.

                Nope!

Maybe I am missing a repository?

That's impossible. Flash is in one of the standard but disabled repositories.

Muon Package Manager > Settings > Software Sources > Tick everything.

Refresh the repos then search "adobe-flashplugin"

By the way it is impossible for anything to remain impossible! They said man couldn't fly... We have been flying since 1902. They said it was impossible for man to go to the moon. On July 16,1969 Niel Armstrong walked on the moon! They said it was impossible to build the Space Station and at on Atlantis's last mission NASA announced that the large module construction was now complete! That was the summer of 2011. Then the Space Shuttle era ended to make way for the Orion class of manned interplanetary vehicles, They should be ready within the next 3 or 4 years I think.

I found the flashplayer plugin finally using synaptic. I don't understand why Muon couldn't find it. It seems Steam needs the full flashplayer. Where can I get the full flashplayer?

their is an inconsistence in your sources.list file as well , wile most of it refers to Quantal you have 2 entries for Precise as well ,,,,,, you should change that ASAP as having mixed release ver. repos can cause trouble.

I guess you installed as 12.04 and upgraded to 12.10 at some time.

Yes SteveRiley said in another post that I might want do a fresh install of 12.10 since so many packages are screwed up rather than trying fix everything. I just haven't done that yet.

I just changed the 2 canonical repos to 12.10 and updated then Sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-update.
