No display (Input not supported), Can't login, Can't get to grub menu :(

I was doing distribution upgrade then i restarted after restarting i could get any display after bios screen. So i tried to get to grub by pressing Shift, ESC , Tab etc. but to no availability. I booted from a live CD and restored a failsafe xorg.conf file but that didn't work. So i deleted the file it still didn't work. I am stuck here Anyone got an alternative solution?

Grub did this to me on a fresh install of 12.04.1, so I could avoid it by using the nomodeset option, and reinstall. I suggest using the live cd to take a look at /boot/grub/grub.cfg and see what "gfxmode" it uses; maybe change it to "text", or change the resolution to 640x480.

Grub seemed to use an invalid display mode, then hand it on to linux, which was unable to fix it. Maybe you have a similar problem.

Thank you. changing gfxmode and resolution did not really help so i had to back up home directory and do a fresh install of Kubuntu. Now everything is working until next update :-)
