Can't get rid of unknown plasma widget/panel (?)

I have some annoying floating black box in the top left corner that I can't get rid of.

It persists across desktops, like the panels and unlike the my widgets.

Right and left clicking it does nothing (doesn't bring up a menu like clicking somewhere else does), and I can't drag it. Tried with widgets locked and unlocked. It seems to behave like a panel (see screenshots).

xkill + clicking on it just kills the plasma desktop and restarts it.

It's untouchable! >

It's definitely a file transfer progress bar. Not sure if this will work but right click on the notifications icon in the notification area of the panel. Select notification settings and deselect file transfers and other jobs. I would select auto hide pop ups as well.

thats part of the notification widget and or system , if you had the system tray in your panel (this is where you would normally see the notifier )you could right click IT and set how it displays and thare are some settings for it in system settings.
