Okular save annotation in pdf does not work

The Okular in KDE 4.9 is supposed to be abled to save annotations in pdf file directly, but currently Okular in Kubuntu cannot. It seems that Kubuntu does not package the latest libpoppler(it should be above 0.20)

Interestingly, it seems that there is a version of poppler 0.20 in the ubuntu repository, but installing it does not help. It seems that Kubuntu still use the old version of poppler despite that the new one is installed.

Is there anyway to switch the poppler of Okular to 0.20?

Opening a pdf /1/ in the Okular. Okular > Tools > Review /2/. Adding an inline note and a cyan ellipse. Saving (save as). There is only the overwrite warning.





Copying the pdf to the Windows XP - opening it in the Acrobat Reader - the annotations are there.

Your tips direct me to the solution. It turns out that my okular is from the 12.04 backport ppa, which depends on the older version of poppler(libpoppler-qt4-3).

:~$ apt-cache show okular
...
Version: 4:4.9.3-0ubuntu0.1
...
Depends:...libpoppler-qt4-3 (>= 0.18)...

Thus, I use synaptic to force Okular to use the quantal version. Now the annotation can be saved. It seems that after dist-upgrade from 12.04, the okular does not automatically switch to the quantal version.
