drop shadows for libreoffice and firefox

Hi

I did a fresh install on my laptop and everything looks good, except that I have no drop shadows on any libreoffice menus. On firefox, I have drop shadows on the menus but not on the address bar when I expand it.

Drop shadows are working fine on all the native kde apps, and I have oxygen-gtk enabled as per the kubuntu defaults. I have also disabled the blur effect as I have had problems with that in the past.

Is anyone else having the same problem, and does anyone know the solution?

Libreoffice just looks wrong without menu drop shadows....

Yep, just noticed that in LibreOffice today - sorry no solution yet.

Anyway, I just noticed that on my main desktop, which is kubuntu 12.04 but with kde 4.9.2 from the backports repository, I have the same problem. Since this means the older libreoffice 3.5 then it must be an kde issue.

Libreoffice is a GTK+ (Gnome libraries) application, just like Firefox. KDE uses QT libraries. Full compatibility of GTK+ apps running in KDE, specifically their 'look', will be different than native QT applications.

While the conclusion is true, neither actually is a gtk application (nor depends on gnome libraries), libreoffice uses VCL (IIRC) and firefox uses XUL.

However, theming of FF is connected settings in System settings..................

Never noticed drop shadows in LO, either off or on.

Put qtcurve in the search box in Muon. Install everything that comes up. There are 4 or 5 is all. (My memory isn't real good at times.
Then use System Settings to use them for all programs. Makes FF look right also.

Have you run apt-get update?

libreoffice-kde : Depends: libreoffice-core (= 1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu3) but it is not going to be installed

(Emphasis added by me.) All the packages in the repo ( the optional and unsupported "proposed updates"used for testing, btw) are at 0ubuntu4 which makes me think you haven't yet or your particular mirror is missing the correct files right now. Also, if you have any external ppa's added for LO bits, there is a very slight chance that this is causing a conflict.
