I have a system that has an AMD E-350 dual thread 1.6GHz processor. With Avidemux playing a video I recorded with Kaffeine the sound stutters and the icons on the lower right jump back and forth. The system monitor indicates 100% CPU and the CPU order of the tasks are shown in the graphics.
For the installation of 12.10, I reformated both the root and home partition as I decided to increase root partition size to 12GB. So this is a new installation rather than an upgrade. I had previously installed 12.04 and Avidemux worked without a problem except for HD video files.
My Laptop has dual thread 2.0GHz processors and Avidemux works on that system. I am wondering why processors such as Kmix use so much CPU.
Has anyone else encountered similar problems with video editing, or should I abandon 12.10 on this machine?
