    No sound after upgrade

Just upgraded to 12.10. I have sound for internet videos, but nothing at all in any media player or Amarok. I cant get it to work through my box headphone jack or through my HDMI cable that goes to a TV. Testing sounds in System Settings > Multimedia > Phonon also does nothing. Had no problems in 12.04. Any ideas?

Problem kind of solved. I purged pulseaudio. If this goes like other pulseaudio purges Ive done in the past, problems will probably pop up constantly until a future update breaks audio again.

My number one grumble with Linux: Audio. Somebody really needs to make this simpler. It seems that one out of every four updates breaks audio. With the amount of time Ive spent messing around with my systems audio, I could have got a part time job and bought twenty copies of Windows.

I learned the hard way to always dump all my configurations right after an update. Soon as the update's finished, before I log in I drop to a console and delete anything starting with a '.' in my user directory, then log in and let everything add their default new settings. Of course I then need to spend a couple hours re-setting everything back to the way I want it, but hey, everything just works, and as an added bonus I still have all my hair.
