    the system bar sometimes disappears...

    hi,

    the system bar sometimes disappears from the desktops in plasma netbook.

    besides logging-out and logging back in how can i get that thing to show again please?

    I don't run a plasma-netbook setup, so I wont have any answers here to you, sorry for that.

    I do however think that those who would answer your question may want to know what hardware you have (laptop model) and what you mean with "system bar" is that the panel or the wide icon panel at the upper side?

    I'd say 12.10 Quantal Quetzal > Post installation is just fine, unless you run another version (?)

      Don't know if these will help.

      Might try:
      Editing the ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-netbookrc file and changing the panelAutoHide value to false, then logging out and back in.

        ya thats supposed to be a feature ,,,,,,it's supposed to reappear when you point the cursor to where it should be , or the top left corner ,,,,,it's been a wile sense I tried it several KDE versions ago

          thank you everyone.

          Jonas, i will add hardware details to my signature right away.

          cavedweller's link describes and confirms that it is a known bug. and thank you cavedweller for giving me the path to those desktop resources too. i have been wondering where they might be.


          my solution was to set it to auto-hide which seems to be working okay so far. and since my netbook has such limited screen space this is perhaps the best way to run it.
