dual booting windows 7 and kubuntu 12.10

I have windows 7 64bit on my first drive witch is a 500gb and my second drive is a 320gb drive witch i want to install kubuntu on. Both are sata drives. Last time i tried to dual boot kubuntu and windows 7 i had no luck. It would just boot into linux. That was with kubuntu 10 was out. My question is will kubuntu 12.10 dual boot with windows 7? I like linux with some of it programs it comes with. I just need windows for the games i got. I am new to dual booting linux and windows. I have dual booted windows with other windows. So thanks for the help you can give me.

The answer of course is yes you can dual boot Windows 7 and Kubuntu.

I suggest installing Kububtu to your 320GB drive and booting to it. Grub will set up your Windows boot in it's menu.

Uh oh... is this a new machine that came with Windows 8? If so, then disable Secure Boot first! This'll make things much easier. The protection afforded by Secure Boot is largely unnecessary for typical home settings, so you won't be suddenly at much greater risk than before.

Boot your computer into its firmware settings (previously called BIOS, now called UEFI). Find the setting for Secure Boot and disable it. Save and reboot into Windows 8. Allow Windows to adjust itself to the new configuration. Then proceed with your Kubuntu install.

No it's a older computer that i build about 2 years ago. It's a old socket 775 with 2gb of memory. I put windows 8 64bits on it in December. I had windows 7 on it.
